Hiya Everyone, Kat here!

Due to a family emergency, our guest was unable to join us at the last minute. So tonight’s show was a paranormal potpourri night! We talked about a variety of topics, from meteors to naked men; the Snallygaster to the Mystery Machine getting into an accident. Links to the news articles and fun videos are posted below!

It’s a bird, it’s a plane..

First off, there was a meteor  spotted hurtling over New England this past Tuesday. Sadly, I didn’t see it (it happened at 1AM EST) but dozens of others did! Below is dash-cam footage from a police officer in Maine.

“You’re not supposed to eat the trigger object.”

Ghost Buster trailers square off…

Finally, we compare the fan cut teaser of the new Ghost Busters movie with the original trailer of the 1984 Ghost Busters movie.

The original cut of the new Ghost Busters movie is one of the most hated videos on YouTube. So, I give you the fan-cut version of the trailer. Let us know in the comments which you think is the better trailer!

And that is the end of our show! Remember, the Paranormal View is available for free on iTunes, just look for us in the Podcast section. Please subscribe and write a review so other awesome people like yourselves can find us!

I Sense Something Amusing… My ESP Test

Posted in From the Hosts, Psychic Phenomena with tags , , , , , on June 24, 2009 by The Paranormal View
Vector drawing of the five kinds of Zener card...

I had the pleasure of participating in a formal ESP testing session yesterday with the lovely folks from Richmond L.O.R.E. (League of Occult Research and Education). Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Seriously, no play on words there – this critical minded sleuth of psychic phenomena actually bellied up for a test and, surprisingly, was not disappointed.

The testing director was very thorough with all parts of the setup and even made sure we had nice, rigid blinds between us test subjects and those recording the data. He had us set for 100 attempts with both the standard Zener cards and a set of cards with colored dots. According to all of the data I was able to scratch together, 12 accurate predictions or “readings” out of 100 is considered the same as chance.

So, how did I score? Let me first tell you that I thought this would be a breeze – just roll in and guess what’s on the cards and roll out. By the time I was about 3/4 of the way through my test with the symbols and before I’d even started the color test, I was exhausted. I felt like I’d run a mental marathon with no one there to even thrust a cup of water at me as I stumbled by. I started seeing spots after a few more minutes, but eventually made it through unscathed.

For the curious, I scored higher than 12. My results were 23% accurate to be exact. Do I think I have some special gift of “seeing” now? Hardly. One thing my tester said when I wrapped up did strike me as strange, though:

“More than half of the time, your response would match the next card flipped, not the one in my hand.”
