Posession or Put-On?

A friend sent me a link to this clip from Ghost Adventures and I’m not sure whether to be entertained or just irritated.  Zak allegedly has a spirit enter his body which causes him to behave strangely.  I’ll leave it up to you to decide.

I’d love to know what you all think – and remember, ANY opinion is welcome!

  1. Holy Toledo!! Zak needs to be possessed with the spirit of a thespian, even the night vision cameras could not cover up this terrible acting job. I think it is more than evidence that anyone with three brain cells to rub together has come to the conclusion that these goofy shows should not carry the label “reality” they are as far from reality as we are from the Mars.

Even though I’m a skeptic I’m also an optimist I would love to think that performances (as bad as they are) like this are signs that these ridiculous shows lifecycle are about to come to an end. But then again perhaps producers recognize that audiences are tired of the same old running around a building at night like an idiot is growing tie. Now they have to fake possessions, what’s next crew members running through the middle of the shot with a sheet over their head. Or perhaps bring in a pet psychic to talk to local rats to find out if they’ve seen any ghosts. By the way I have a copyright on both of those ideas.

As dumb as ALL of these paranormal programs are I often wonder if they stand alone. Or are they simply a mirror of a majority of the paranormal community.

Zak, don’t give up your day job.

  2. Oops, it looks like the Travel Channel yanked this video from the web. And who could blame them? From the very beginning, this program has irritated me to death. First of all, Zak seems like an amateur film school dropout who was looking for an angle, and then one day it just dawned on him that he could make a living by scaring people. I completely HATE his approach to investigation, if you could even call it that. He shows no respect for the dead – yelling and taunting and daring spirits to show themselves is not my idea of an investigation. What, if anything is he going to learn by putting on this freak show? It’s pretty clear to me that he has no real interest in the paranormal, other than making some fast cash. Even worse. shows like this encourage more scam artists and snake oil salesmen to come out of the woodwork, making it really difficult for anyone who is out there taking a serious approach to paranormal investigation. To makes matters worse still. someone at the Travel Channel must have told Zak to ramp up his scariness factor for the new season, because the new shows seem even more laughable than last year’s batch. It’s like they want Ghost Adventures to take a cue from their other laughable program, Most Haunted – “More screaming, more BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP, and more jumping around like frightened kids! More action, Zak, we want more action this year! And pump some iron because we want you to act like a tough guy.”
